What's Going On

I don't think I've blogged much lately about what we've been up to and what's going on in our lives, other than just pictures and visitors and such.

These are some pictures from Jeremy's camera that I just uploaded. We usually head out to the trail on the weekend to pass some time when nothing's going on.

The river

Jeremy has been busy, busy with work as usual. He has gained a lot of useful experience and knowledge here and is proud of accomplishing the goals that were set for him when he arrived. Which means that we'll probably be moving on to the next location before we know it!

Here are the boys posing with Jeremy's Geico caveman in the background, aka man who was fishing on the rock when we went down.

Jeremy still wants to get back into running again but can't seem to find the time or energy.

Maybe because Noah takes a lot of time and energy. :) Noah is doing fine these days, growing and changing into a little boy. It always makes me sad to pack away cute clothes and realize that he won't wear them again. He is saying more words, though I am concerned that he doesn't have enough of them. He says his own versions of "done", "juice", "fish", "hello", "hey", and knows who Mama and Daddy are, but doesn't say our names. He signs "more" but does not say it. He says "da da" instead of bye-bye so b's seem a little hard for him. I am panicking that he doesn't name body parts or say ABC's yet. It just occured to me recently that he's not a baby anymore and I have to be diligent about actually teaching him these things because he's not going to pick them up on his own. Noah is doing really well with sleep most days. We put him down between 8 and 8:30 at night, always awake, because he won't fall asleep truly until he's in his bed by himself. He sleeps until somewhere between 6:30 and 7:30. He takes one nap at 1:00pm and that lasts anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3.5 hours, if we forget to wake him up when he sleeps too long. :) Noah has pretty much given up all vegetables except for sweet potatoes, unless I hide them in his food. But he loves most fruits, so we do our best.

I started a job working 2 days a week in one of the boutiques downtown in the middle of August. So far I have really enjoyed it. It's nice to get out in the real world a couple days, and still have time with Noah. :) He seems to be adjusting well enough to staying all day with the sitter. I love being downtown.

We've been doing well with life in West Virginia but have had some difficult stuff lately too. At the end of July, we learned that Jeremy's dad was laid off from his fairly new job in Beaumont, TX. He is still looking for a new job.

This week has been especially rough. Jeremy's dad went in for a routine physical this week, and long story short, is scheduled to have quadruple bypass surgery next Thursday. We also learned that my grandfather's heart is not doing well and he may not have a lot of time left. He has told my aunt that he is ready to die and go be with Nanna. We booked flights tonight to head back to Texas on Saturday. We'll be there September 18-25, flying into DFW and driving to Beaumont for part of the week.

Here we are at the Rascal Flatts concert in July.

Prayers all around please! These seasons of life are never fun. God has watched over our families and protected us. We are praising him for protecting Jeremy's dad after riding his bike 53 miles in the "Hotter than Hell" bike ride 2 weeks ago in Wichita Falls, with 5 blocked arteries no less! He knows what He is doing, and has it all covered.

Ava does the same thing with her d and b sound and she doesn't say much either, don't know what's up with that. It is for sure frustrating, but I know she understands everything and gets what we are saying to her. One day they're just going to start talking our ears off!

I am so sorry to hear about all the health issues, when it rains it pours, huh!? We will for sure put your family in our prayers!
God Bless
